This course is an introduction to Catalan for any student wishing to learn the language for travel or everyday use with no prior knowledge of Catalan required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build general basic comprehension and communication skills in beginners Catalan and an introduction to cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of basic language principles.

COURSE OUTLINE
- Greetings & Farewells, Alphabet, Numbers 0-100
- Name, Address, Phone number, Age, Gender
- Countries and nationalities, Languages, Nationality
- Professions, Places of work, Studies
- Determinate articles: Indicative present (regular verbs), el/la/l’/els/les
- Presence/absence of the determinate article
- Article al, Reasons: Sentences with per/perquè
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Introduce yourself (ask others name and say your name)
- Say where you are from and ask others.
- Say your profession and ask others.
- Say your age and ask others
- Understand the conjugation system of the verbs.
- Use the regular verbs in present tense
- Say why you study Catalan and ask others.
