What do Lachlan Macquarie, Eber Bunker, Francis Greenway, Maria Lock, and Surgeon John White have in common? They have all contributed to making Liverpool an important colonial heritage precinct with many significant buildings, including two Greenway masterpieces. Macquarie had intended Liverpool to be one of the major satellite towns, a hub for agriculture and transport in the colony, and what remains provides opportunities to tell stories of the past, such as - how did Liverpool contribute to the notorious six o’clock closing? Meet at the stairs entrance to Liverpool Station (Bigge Street) 10 minutes before the tour starts so it can commence on time.
