Discover the apps that help you move through daily life with confidence. This hands-on workshop introduces you to the digital tools many Australians rely on for travel, health, and finances. Over two hours, participants will be split into two groups and rotate between two engaging sessions. By the end, you’ll feel more confident navigating essential apps that make life simpler, safer, and more connected. No prior experience is required – just bring your curiosity and a fully charged smartphone or device.
This course is held in co-operation with Good Things Australia as part of their Get Online Week 2025 (20-26 October). Get Online Week is Good Things' national campaign to close the digital divide. It supports people to feel safer and more confident online so no one is left behind. Every year in October hundreds of fun, local digital skills events are held in communities across Australia for Get Online Week.
Session 1 - Getting Around with Travel Apps: Learn how to make travelling easier with apps that help you plan, book, and navigate your journeys. From Google Maps to ride share and public transport apps, this session will show you how to:
- Find the quickest routes and directions using Google Maps
- Use ride share apps safely and with confidence
- Access public transport timetables and travel updates
- Save time and reduce stress when getting from A to B.
Session 2 - Managing Health & Finances Online: Discover how to access important government, health, and finance services at your fingertips. This session will focus on using apps like myGov, Medicare, and other tools to:
- Log in securely and manage your myGov account
- Access Medicare services and health information online
- Explore simple apps for managing money and payments
- Gain confidence in using digital tools for everyday essentials
