Print this page The Intriguing World of Haydn
Available Classes
Few composers have left as great a mark on the musical landscape as Joseph Haydn. From humble beginnings, born in the time of Baroque masters like Bach and Handel, he shaped and consolidated the emerging Classical music forms. He is known as the Father of the Symphony and String Quartet and was the last major musician who worked most of his life for a single patron, the Esterhazy’s. All of this was achieved with a pithy sense of humour and incredible modesty.
