Tony Johansen

Tony Johansen, artist, photographer, sculptor, poet, printmaker, and art teacher for 30 years. Former Director of East Sydney Academy of Art, Tony previously taught art at Julian Ashton Art School. His work is collected by public insttutions and privately in Australia, US, UK, Germany, and Poland. He has a passion for the history and philosophy of art. Tony's enthusiasm for art is infectious, and he teaches in an interactive manner that carries the student on a voyage of discovery in the quest for meaning and making sense of the sometimes confusing world of art. Tony invites you to share in his enthusiasm as he invites you aboard the ship of learning.

Laura Juez Caballero

Laura is from Barcelona, she loves her culture, travelling, dancing and learning languages. She speaks Spanish, Catalan, English and French and she has lived and taught Spanish in other countries like Canada, France, New Zealand or Mexico. She is passionate about spreading her language and culture. Laura’s qualifications were in Teaching for Secondary School and Teaching Languages. She has also a Course in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language and being a DELE examiner for A1 to B2 levels by Instituto Cervantes.

Mohamad Kader

Mohamad is a business and technology consultant who has worked in a wide array of commercial, tertiary and semi-government enterprises. His interests are in the simplification and practical use of technology and in improving business through simple, innovate marketing ideas. His training interests focus on sales and marketing, technology and business disciplines. In his spare time Mohamad is a keen cactus plant grower and enjoys cooking and movies.

Sigrid Kaly

Sigrid Kaly was born and educated in Germany, where she obtained various diplomas from language schools as interpreter/translator. She came to Australia in 1957 and worked for 20 years as liaison officer, translator and interpreter for two German doctors and their Australian patients. In 1988, she obtained NAATI accreditation as a two-way translator Level III (German/English), as well as a Certificate of TESOL from Sydney TAFE in 1989. Sigrid has been teaching languages to adults on a part-time basis since 1985 and has been with WEA Sydney since 1987.

Hanna-Rikka Kavasto

Hanna Kavasto, MTI, BA, has been working as a freelance simultaneous interpreter for the European Union and teaching Finnish for foreigners from beginners' to advanced level for 20 years in Brussels, Belgium. She majored in Translation Studies and Conference Interpreting and has a deep interest in languages and their use in everyday life. She uses different types of teaching materials and supports students in their individual learning path helping them to find the best method for them to learn. Hanna believes learning a new language opens new worlds and a different culture and language structure are fun to explore at all ages!

Georgina Kenyon

Georgina Kenyon, has worked as a teacher, editor and writer for over 20 years, contributing to the BBC, ABC, New Scientist, The Lancet journals, Deutsche Welle and The Guardian. She writes about art and science and she makes radio programs. Georgina has worked as a science communicator for conservation groups such as the WWF and Fauna & Flora. She has studied art, history and philosophy of science. Georgina believes in creating a happy and encouraging environment so that students of all ages feel supported. Georgina uses exciting and fascinating content from the worlds of science, art and history for her classes and she enjoys bringing these fascinating worlds alive - through a variety of teaching methods.
