Mohamad Kader

Mohamad is a business and technology consultant who has worked in a wide array of commercial, tertiary and semi-government enterprises. His interests are in the simplification and practical use of technology and in improving business through simple, innovate marketing ideas. His training interests focus on sales and marketing, technology and business disciplines. In his spare time Mohamad is a keen cactus plant grower and enjoys cooking and movies.

Sigrid Kaly

Sigrid Kaly was born and educated in Germany, where she obtained various diplomas from language schools as interpreter/translator. She came to Australia in 1957 and worked for 20 years as liaison officer, translator and interpreter for two German doctors and their Australian patients. In 1988, she obtained NAATI accreditation as a two-way translator Level III (German/English), as well as a Certificate of TESOL from Sydney TAFE in 1989. Sigrid has been teaching languages to adults on a part-time basis since 1985 and has been with WEA Sydney since 1987.

Hanna-Rikka Kavasto

Hanna Kavasto, MTI, BA, has been working as a freelance simultaneous interpreter for the European Union and teaching Finnish for foreigners from beginners' to advanced level for 20 years in Brussels, Belgium. She majored in Translation Studies and Conference Interpreting and has a deep interest in languages and their use in everyday life. She uses different types of teaching materials and supports students in their individual learning path helping them to find the best method for them to learn. Hanna believes learning a new language opens new worlds and a different culture and language structure are fun to explore at all ages!

Georgina Kenyon

Georgina Kenyon, has worked as a teacher, editor and writer for over 20 years, contributing to the BBC, ABC, New Scientist, The Lancet journals, Deutsche Welle and The Guardian. She writes about art and science and she makes radio programs. Georgina has worked as a science communicator for conservation groups such as the WWF and Fauna & Flora. She has studied art, history and philosophy of science. Georgina believes in creating a happy and encouraging environment so that students of all ages feel supported. Georgina uses exciting and fascinating content from the worlds of science, art and history for her classes and she enjoys bringing these fascinating worlds alive - through a variety of teaching methods.

Sandy Killick

Resume

Sandra Killick is a leading authority in democracy education, adaptive leadership & systems thinking. A skilled facilitator, she creates spaces where people can have challenging, messy, necessary discussions about the big ideas that affect us all. Sandy is a social scientist with consultancy experience in education, health, human rights and social policy sectors. She has direct experience of how systems work through her roles with the UNSW Social Entrepreneurship Practicum team, NSW Ombudsman, NSW Premier & Cabinet and the Women’s Electoral Lobby. Sandy also volunteered as a Primary Ethics facilitator to support the development of critical thinking skills. Sandy is an experienced adult educator, Churchill Fellow, Social Leadership Australia alumni and qualified mediator.

Judith King

Judy King, OAM, MA, Dip Ed has taught History and Politics at WEA since 2011. Before then, she taught HSC Modern History, Ancient History and English in NSW public schools for many years. She has also tutored in Early Modern History at Macquarie University while lecturing in Macquarie's Teacher Education Program. Judy was previously the editor of Teaching History, the professional journal of The History Teachers Association of NSW. She has a particular interest in English and Russian History, a love of film and music, and an abiding interest in politics and current events. She welcomes all opportunities to share her passion for History and Politics with WEA students. Judy attended the Cambridge University History Summer School in 2014 and 2019 and hopes to return sometime in the future.

Matt King

Resume

Matt King honed his audio production skills while completing a music degree at the University of Western Sydney. He is an accomplished musician having toured and recorded with a number of independent bands. Matt’s last band, Hippie Death Star, was on a festival line up in Seoul, South Korea. Matt has also facilitated audio recording workshops for young people at Granville Youth Centre.
