This course is for any student wishing to learn the language for business, travel or everyday use with approximately 100 hours of German required. Students will develop skills to use in conversation, reading, listening and writing. This course aims to build mid-level comprehension and communication skills in intermediate German and a review of cultural practices, with a focus on clear explanation of higher level language principles.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, directions, employment).
  2. Communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
  3. Describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
