This course helps you strengthen your communication skills for everyday situations while deepening your understanding of Spanish grammar and vocabulary, making it ideal for learners wanting to learn the Spanish language for travel, work, or personal enrichment in a supportive, interactive learning environment.
You will learn to leave and report messages, make and respond to requests and advice, and share real or imagined anecdotes using a variety of past tenses. Grammar is taught in context, including indirect speech, expressing causes and consequences, and using essential connectors such as porque, como, así que, and o sea que. Vocabulary practice includes communication and travel-related topics, along with practical language for emails, texts, and letters, helping you use intermediate Spanish more confidently and naturally in real-life situations.

COURSE OUTLINE
Communication
- Be able to leave messages and transmit commands, requests and advice.
- Tell real or made-up anecdotes.
- Resources for showing interest when listening to an anecdote
- Talking about causes and consequences.
Grammar
- Indirect Speech: reporting messages (me ha dicho que, me ha preguntado si)
- Notifying orders, requests and advice
- Cause and consequence connectors: como, porque, así que, o sea que
- Pluperfect tense (pluscuamperfecto de indicativo)
- Combine the different past tenses (pretérito indefinido, pretérito imperfecto, pretérito perfecto y pretérito pluscuamperfecto)
Vocabulary
- Verbs that explain the intention of a message (preguntar, recomendar)
- Types of messages: letter, text, email
- Verbs to ask something (pedir, preguntar)
- Vocabulary about travels and types of tourism
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Leave and report messages, transmit commands, requests, and advice, and tell real or imagined anecdotes, using appropriate expressions to show interest and sustain a conversation.
- Use indirect speech to report what others have said or asked, connect ideas of cause and consequence using common connectors (e.g., porque, como, así que, o sea que), and combine different past tenses (pretérito indefinido, imperfecto, perfecto, and pluscuamperfecto) to narrate events coherently.
- Use a range of vocabulary related to communication and travel, including verbs of intention and request (e.g., preguntar, recomendar, pedir), and can adapt their language and tone appropriately for different message types (letters, texts, emails).
