Virginia McGill

Dr Virginia McGill, B.Mus (Hons), PhD, studied music at UNSW. The subject of her doctorate was opera but her musical interests are very broad. Her teaching experience is considerable. Virginia has given courses to adults at WEA for many years and has taught French and Latin in the school system. She was also a homework volunteer for primary children for eighteen years. Virginia still studies and plays piano and continues her musical experience in the form of concerts, both live and digitally from overseas.She is passionate about her subject and her enthusiasm enlivens the class. Virginia does not require any formal knowledge from students, only a willingness to enter the deep universe that is music.

John McIntyre

John McIntyre is a philosopher and writer with a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sydney, where his research examined Science as a Social Institution. He also holds a Master of Architecture (History and Theory) from UNSW and a Master of Environmental Planning from Macquarie University.

John has extensive teaching experience, having tutored at the University of Sydney, lectured at the Melbourne School of Continental Philosophy, and delivered a number of popular lectures at WEA and the Woollahra Philosophy Club. His published works include The Limits to Scientific Reason: Habermas, Foucault and Science as a Social Institution (Rowman & Littlefield, 2021), as well as academic and public essays on Foucault, philosophy, and society.

With a strong academic background and a clear, engaging teaching style, John brings complex ideas to life, helping adult learners explore philosophy in a way that is both rigorous and accessible.

Andrea Mendivil

Andrea Mendivil, a Spanish tutor from Argentina, holds a Master's degree in Public Administration, a Bachelor's degree in Law, and specialised qualifications in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, including certification as a DELE examiner (Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language). With extensive teaching experience at universities and various institutions, she combines her passion for education with a focus on cultural immersion methods to promote Hispanic culture. Andrea believes in the transformative power of language to connect people, enrich lives, and build bridges between different cultures.

Blandine Midy Boutry

Resume

Blandine Midy Boutry is an experienced French tutor with qualifications from the University of NSW (Cert. in Teaching French) and UTS (Graduate Diploma in Teaching French). She has been teaching French in a variety of settings since 1996 including the Institute of Languages (UNSW), Insearch Language Centre (UTS), University of Technology Sydney, Alliance Francaise Sydney and at WEA. Blandine has a passion for transferring her knowledge of the culture and language of France to motivated students of all levels. Frequent trips to her home country allow Blandine to remain connected to the living language of French including idioms, contractions and inflexions. Blandine teaches online and her classes are lively, personal, inclusive and fun, and where there will always be something interesting to learn on your journey into French: the language, the people and the culture.

Marco Migotto

Marco Migotto LLB Dip Arts (Fine Arts) CELTA has qualifications in language teaching and art history. He has worked as a translator, has taught Italian and English languages in Australia and Italy, and has led numerous tours of Italy, in Venice, Florence and Bologna. He has been working at the WEA for over 20 years. Marco believes in a student-centred approach to language teaching, where the focus is on engaging students in a variety of activities to make learning interesting, challenging and fun.

Dominique Millar

Resume

Dominique has two Master's degrees in Italian art history and art curatorship. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Sir William Dobell Scholarship for Classical Drawing and Painting at Sydney’s Julian Ashton Art School. He has taught visual arts classes at numerous locations in greater Sydney, including community centres, art societies and as a guest teacher for firms and businesses. Dominique has a proven track record in coherently communicating the skills necessary for absolutely anyone who wishes to learn to draw. Shared class engagement is central to the structure of all his courses and expanding of his students' intellectual parameters is his passion. His classes integrate a knowledge gained from experience and research within his own visual arts practice and his ongoing study of art history. Eugene Mitchell

Eugene is an energetic singer, songwriter and guitar teacher, who loves to teach and inspire his students. Eugene studied drama at James Cook University, where he learnt valuable performance skills which helped bring out the best in himself and his fellow actors. When he is teaching guitar these drama skills bring out the best in each of his students. He fondly remembers his music program he taught at Day Care Centre’s that made a lot of children and staff very happy.

Linda Moctezuma

Linda Moctezuma has been an English Teacher in a Sydney High School for most of her career. She taught adults at WEA in the late 90's and recently completed a Masters by Research degree in English Literature at USYD. Linda was a lecturer at UNSW for Master of Education students where she taught teachers in training.  She is a member of two book clubs, one focusing exclusively on "World Literature". Linda is considering retirement soon and will focus now on her primary passion which is Literature.

Tibor Molnar

Tibor Molnar studied Chemical Engineering at UNSW in the 1960s, but then forged a career in IT and business. Retired in 2003, he now pursues a wide range of interests: from physics and neuroscience to AI and philosophy. An Honorary Associate of the Department of Philosophy, University of Sydney, Tibor teaches Philosophy and Science at the university’s Centre for Continuing Education and the WEA. A book is also on the way. For Tibor, the pursuit of understanding is the most rewarding of human endeavours, and his enthusiasm for Science in all its forms is well reflected in his presentation style.
