Ronda Hartwig Janes

Ronda Hartwig Janes gained her initial qualifications as an art teacher from TAFE, and she has been employed continuously since 1985 by Sydney Institute of Technology in this area, teaching diploma students fine art and graphic design. She gained her Diploma of Alexander Technique (a three year full-time course run by the Alexander Technique Association) in 1993, and runs a variety of classes in this discipline from her city base.

Mubashar Hasan

Mubashar Hasan PhD is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Humanitarian and Development Research Initiative (HADRI), University of Western Sydney, Australia. He also serves as a member of the Research Advisory Council of RESOLVE Network, housed at the United States Institute of Peace, Washington DC . He is the author of the book Islam and Politics: Followers of Ummah (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). He was a former Post-Doctoral Fellow at Oslo University, Norway.

Cynthia Haskell

Cynthia Haskell has a BA with a double major in Chinese from the University of Queensland and is a NAATI qualified translator. She has spent lengthy periods in China studying and teaching at Universities and regularly travels extensively throughout China. She has a Grad Dip Ed and has taught Chinese to students, often with no prior knowledge of the language, in Australian primary and secondary schools as well as adult students in Australia and the UK. She has developed curriculum and highly acclaimed and innovative resources for the learning and teaching of Chinese for the NSW Education Department. She also holds a Grad Cert in TESOL and an MA in Professional Writing and teaches Academic English to Chinese students in Sydney.

Michael Hauptman

Michael Hauptman, MBA, MEngSci, has conducted walking tours of the Sydney CBD for over 15 years.  He is a keen amateur historian with a passion for studying the late 1800s and early 1900s, when so much of our modern world took shape.

Jennifer Hayes

Jennifer has a Master of Letters in Communication, specialising in Film, a B.A specialising in Literature and a Fine Arts Painting Diploma. She has been involved in teaching students the joys of research in all areas of academia in the course of a very long career in university libraries. Detective fiction is a real passion of hers and she is always pleased to share it with other enthusiasts.

Peter Headley

Resume

Peter Headley, MA, BA has had a career mainly in the export sector globally covering over 40 years in fields such as food processing, renewable energy, environment management and Trade Commissioner Service. Since his retirement he has been giving lectures at WEA since 2012 and also to outside groups such as U3A, Probus and as a lecturer with Princess Cruises since 2008.  He has had a life long interest in history and cultures, and his talks reflect this interest and good fortune in visiting and researching many of his talks on site. He has an engaging presentational style and encourages audience participation/contribution. Notably his presentations contain a  higher pictorial/media content than what might be normally encountered. Peter aims to not only educate his audience and to bring alive the times and subject of his talk, but to inspire an ongoing interest by his audience.

Marie Heinrich

Marie Heinrich, PhD, MM, enjoys a lively career as a music researcher, educator, and performer. She earned her doctorate in music from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Griffith University, where she specialised in intercultural music mediation and developed a system to help musicians learn music authentically from other cultures. Recent engagements include lectures and performances in Brisbane, Sydney, and London's Royal Academy of Music.
