Practice the art of painting directly from observation in outdoor environments, while developing the ability to see, simplify, and respond creatively to the landscape. Participants will learn how to sketch from deep observation, refine watercolour techniques, minimise unnecessary detail, harmonise shapes and values, and bring vitality to their paintings through confident decision-making.

The course begins with a three-hour studio session focused on composition, visual simplification, and plein air strategies. Students will explore the beauty of Hyde Park, capturing its trees, gardens, and heritage architecture while developing observation, composition, and colour skills. This course will allow students to embrace spontaneity, take creative risks, and develop a personal response to the landscape.

No prior plein air experience is required; however, a basic understanding of watercolour painting is recommended.
