Set within the gorgeous landscape of Observatory Hill Park, this two-day plein air course invites participants to observe, feel, and respond to the atmosphere of one of Sydney’s most iconic views.
Over two sessions, students will learn to capture the changing light, architectural forms of the Harbour Bridge, and the subtle moods of the harbour through direct observation. Emphasis will be placed on simplifying complex scenes, harmonising shapes and values, and embracing the fluidity and spontaneity of watercolour. Rather than seeking perfect representation, the course encourages a mindful and intuitive approach, allowing water, pigment, and atmosphere to work together in creating vibrant and personal responses to place.
No prior plein air experience is required; however, a basic understanding of watercolour painting is recommended.
