This course helps you expand your ability to communicate more confidently in Russian while strengthening your understanding of key grammar and vocabulary needed for everyday conversation. It is ideal for learners interested in learning Russian for cultural interest or personal enrichment in a supportive and interactive learning environment.

You will practise communication in situations such as discussing family relationships, talking about dating and marriage, and exploring Russian literature through figures such as Leo Tolstoy. Grammar is developed in context, including nominative and genitive case usage, reflexive pronouns, past tense forms, and complex sentence structures. Vocabulary and phonetics are integrated throughout, including family life, emotions, and social interaction, as well as key pronunciation features such as consonant clusters, hushers, and unstressed vowel patterns.

  • Cases: genitive (nouns, adjectives, pronouns)
  • Reflexive pronouns: себя́ and свой (genitive case)
  • Complex sentences: conjunctions что, где, как, когда́; кото́рый (genitive case)
  • Verb forms: past tense
  • Connectors: sequencing and adding information

Phonetics

  • Sounds: pronunciation of СЧ, -ТЬСЯ, -ТСЯ
  • Sounds: hushers (Ж, Ш, Ч, Щ)
  • Sounds: unstressed /я/

Vocabulary

  • Greetings and farewells
  • Family information and relationships
