Become a qualified Trainer and Assessor with WEA Sydney's flexible online delivery. Build practical skills to design, deliver, and assess nationally recognised training across workplace and VET settings. Flexible, practical, and designed to fit around work, family, and life.
COURSE DURATION
Students have up to 12 months to complete the course from the day of commencement. Your course will commence once your enrolment application has been finalised and enrolment fees have been paid. Access to your course materials will be available through your student log-in on the day you commence your course.
COURSE STRUCTURE
This course is made up of 12 units; 6 core units and 6 elective units, which have been selected by WEA Sydney to align with the skills and requirements for most trainers throughout Australia.
Core Units
- TAEASS412 Assess competence: Plan and prepare to conduct assessments aligned with regulatory requirements including customising assessment processes, gathering evidence, making judgements and reviewing outcomes.
- TAEASS413 Participate in assessment validation: Prepare and participate in validation activities applying principles of assessment and rules of evidence.
- TAEDES412 Design and develop plans for vocational training: Design and plan training by identifying objectives and outcomes in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop session plans and strategies to facilitate learner engagement.
- TAEDEL411 Facilitate vocational training: Plan, prepare and customise. vocational training in line with identified target groups, support individual and group learning. Identify learner difficulties and training challenges and identify opportunities for improvement.
- TAEDES411 Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs: Research and analyse nationally recognised training products that would meet identified training needs.
- TAEPDD401 Work effectively in the VET sector: Interpret the VET policy regulatory and compliance frameworks, work with vocational learners, evaluate own competency and plan to improve own professional practice.
Elective Units
- TAEASS512 Design and Develop assessment tools: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to assess candidate/s competence in an online environment, design and implement an assessment process and making the assessment decision. It also involves recording and reviewing the completed assessment process.
- TAEDEL311 Provide work skill instruction: Gain the skills and knowledge to conduct individual and small group work skill instruction using existing support materials and demonstration of work skills as a training strategy.
- TAEASS404 Assess competence in an online environment: This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to assess candidate/s competence in an online environment. It involves implementing a plan for the assessment process, gathering quality evidence according to the principles of assessment and the rules of evidence, and making the assessment decision. It also involves recording and reviewing the completed assessment process. The unit applies to individuals who use a range of technical competencies to assess candidates who are participating in assessment remotely and interacting with teachers, peers and other industry professionals by means of various electronic applications and communication channels.
- TAEDEL405 Plan, organise and facilitate online learning: Plan and organise online learning environment for delivery of learning activities. Facilitate online learning as per learner needs using digital tools and communication.
- TAEDEL414 Mentor in the workplace: Plan and facilitate mentoring relationship in accordance with organisational procedures. Monitor and review mentoring relationships to establish benefits gained by the mentoring process.
- TAELLN421 Integrate core skill support into Training and Assessment: Identify, core skill demands and provide support to address gaps, including digital literacy, reading, writing, oral communication and numeracy.
CERTIFICATION
Students who are deemed competent will receive a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122), which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Those entering this program must be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.
