In classical landscape painting, we do not merely copy the physical outlook of nature. We regard it as a combination of our soul and spiritual essence of the existing world. It is a visual recreation which integrates our personal temperament and the symbolic quality of landscape into a perfect harmony: a metaphor where humans and heaven/nature are ONE. Through this course, we shall learn all basic skills in water ink painting in an expressive way. It is also a visual path as a self-cultivated journey. The evolution of the seasons is also an expedition of our own life from birth towards maturity. This provides a deeper metaphysical contemplation to be embodied in our creativity. A course kit consisting of Chinese Xuan paper, brushes and bottle ink costing $30 will be available to be purchased from the tutor. Please note that this is not included in course fees nor is the purchase of this kit compulsory.
