Australia has produced some great minds and great leaders. We have also produced some great personalities and eccentrics. It is worth remembering them because they contributed to a more colourful and often, richer society. In this course we look at some of these characters, from the elusive to the “out there”, people like Arthur Stace, the “Eternity Man”, Ned Kelly, Bea Miles, Daisy Bates, John Macarthur, Henry Lawson, Louisa Lawson, Norman Lindsay, Burnum Burnum and Albert Jacka. Find out how they contributed to their times, but also their colourful histories.

DELIVERY MODE

  • Hybrid (Face-to-Face & Online simultaneously)

COURSE OUTLINE

  • Each personality will be given about an hour to reveal his or her personality, along with analysing and evaluate their contributions
  • The period context will be explored so that we can appreciate what they meant in their own day
  • For each personality we look at how Australian society has changed since their day

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Gain an understanding of the time and period of each person
  2. Become familiar with the biography of each person
  3. Evaluate the contribution of each personality
