Trace the movement of Jews after the Inquisitions to Salonica where they contributed to developing a rich and innovative culture under the Ottomans. Decline of their culture began after Hellenisation in the early twentieth century and was all but eradicated with the Holocaust. A few places remain there today which you can visit to imagine an earlier era.
