The cause of Scottish independence was buoyed by devolution and the creation of the Scottish Parliament in 1999; but, it has drifted since independence was rejected in the 2014 Referendum. In the past 10 years, the Scottish National Party (SNP), the most vocal advocate for independence, has been enmeshed in a series of scandals.
