  • Types of redemption in literature; Defining characteristics; Best literary redemption stories over time
  • History of ghost stories; Types of ghost stories and how they suit a Christmas setting; British Christmas ghost stories and Australian equivalents; Best literary Christmas ghost stories over time
  • Types of mysteries and how they suit a Christmas setting; Best endings of Christmas mysteries; Best literary Christmas mysteries over time and in different cultures

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Identify characteristics of redemption stories, ghost stories, and mysteries
  2. Discuss how a Christmas setting contributes to these genres
