Designed especially for seniors, this practical hands-on workshop covers Apple's Medical ID, medication management, health tracking, accessibility features, Siri, myGov, Medicare integration and useful shortcuts that simplify everyday tasks. Participants will also learn how to record important health information such as blood pressure and glucose levels, create one-touch automations and make better use of built-in accessibility tools. You'll leave with greater confidence using your iPhone to support your health, independence and daily life. Please bring your own fully charged iPhone.

COURSE OUTLINE
- Setup & iPhone Efficiency (Everyday Handy Features): Verifying software updates (iOS 19+), adjusting text size for readability, and customizing the Control Centre for quick access to core tools.
- Module 1: Emergency & Crisis Safety: Configuring Apple Medical ID for lock-screen access , adding vital info (allergies, medications) , and mastering Emergency SOS features.
- Module 2: Real-World Sight & Scanning Tools: Using the built-in iPhone Magnifier app to read medication bottles, and utilizing the Notes app to securely scan and lock copies of paper prescriptions.
- Module 3: Unlocking Apple Shortcuts: A beginner-friendly introduction to the Shortcuts app. Step-by-step setup of an automated shortcut to easily call your doctor or make a doctor appointment
- Module 4: Managing Meds, Vitals & Siri Voice Mastery: Linking myGov to the 1800MEDICARE app , tracking blood pressure trends , and practicing Siri voice commands for hands-free medication reminders.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, students should be able to:
- Configure a life-saving Emergency Medical ID on iOS accessible from a locked screen.
- Build and trigger a basic Apple Shortcut for rapid everyday math tasks like calling a doctor.
- Use native iOS accessibility tools like the Magnifier and custom text sizing for everyday readability.
- Access electronic prescriptions via official Australian health apps and safely track monthly health trends.
